Life and Legacy

A Few Thoughts: On this Easter season morning.

Today, I look upon legacy, and remembrance.
I took these pictures this morning. The clematis we planted several years ago has resurrected itself once again as it has begun climbing up the makeshift trellis beside my  Mom's memorial in our backyard garden. The bench for Dad stands sturdy, and steadfast beside the basswood tree just a few feet away. I cannot wait to sit beneath the shade it provides on Summer Sunday mornings as I gather my thoughts in prayer. The humming bird atop the trellised ladder represents so many wonderful blessings, and qualities that I cannot reference them all here this morning. Let it suffice to say Mom held firm to faith, fellowship, and family. Dad's strength held our home together from its block foundation below to the rafters up above. He could be a gruff "old man" at times, but he loved so deeply he rarely let it shine. It was always at times when things looked bleakest that you could see a tear well up in the corner of his eye.
We always had a birdhouse in our backyard at home in our little town. I put them on Dad's bench as a reminder that even the smallest of creatures could lift up a troubled soul towards heaven. This morning, I grieve for the loss of an Uncle, yet I rejoice at the same time knowing the end of one legacy leads to a glorious life ahead. And so, I wipe away a tear, and the sorrow of one life lived to see the sunshine beyond a grey horizon. Amen &
God Bless
